After a night's rest in Jo'burg we were up early to board our 2 hour flight to Malawi where we would spend the next 5 days. Malawi is a small country in comparison to other African countries. It has an estimated population of 15 million and is bordered by Mozambique to the south, Tanzania to the north and Zambia to the west. 20 percent of the land mass in Malawi is covered by Lake Malawi, Africa's 3rd largest fresh water lake and the world's 13th largest.
Malawi is often called the "Warm Heart of Africa" because of the friendliness of its people. We would soon learn how true that statement was, but not until we left the absolute chaos of the international airport in Lilongwe.
